Girls BuildGirls Build is an initiative of the LA Promise Fund. Every year Girls Build challenges young women from middle school and high school to make an impact within the community.
LA Promise fund selected 65 teams to participate in the Girls Build challenge, and we are one of those teams! Our team will be receiving a grant to implement our project. |
WorkshopsOur team has worked collectively to gather data on gun violence, safety, and prevention. We created power point presentations to present during school hours.

EventsEvents will be held throughout the year in efforts to decrease social isolation. Why social isolation? That is one of the main causes of gun violence. People do not feel welcomed or they feel alone. Our events that we will create will be inclusive of all people.

Choosing our project.During the time we were choosing an issue within our community, the Santa Clarita School shooting happened. Following this tragic event, two local schools to Magnolia Science Academy Bell had came out in the news due to gun violence. We chose this topic because we believe our community needs to be educated on the recent events that have been occurring. We thought this would be a great opportunity to shine some light on the issue.

GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTIONWe believe that any issue can be fixed and before being fixed it can be prevented. Our research shows that many gun violence acts arise due to the person feeling sad, mad, or alone. Mental health is important, and we can contribute to someones well being by a simple act of kindness.

Social IsolationWe believe in creating events and workshops that will minimize social isolation. Some events that we will be doing are:
